PROJECT UPDATE: January 15, 2024
For the week of January 15: Contractor will mobilize on Rancho Del Verde Place to install 200 linear feet of 8-inch pipe. On Friday, January 19, saw cutting will begin on Summit Drive from Rancho Del Verde to the intersection with Old San Pasqual Road. During construction hours, traffic will be reduced to one lane on Summit Drive and will be monitored with trained traffic control personnel at each end. Please expect 10-to-15-minute delay.
For the week of January 22: Pipeline installation will begin on Summit Drive from Rancho Del Verde to Old San Pasqual Road. During the construction, the south side lane on Summit Drive will remain open and monitored with trained traffic control personnel. Since cars on each end of the construction area will alternate access to the south side lane, please expect 10-to-15-minute delay during construction hours. Contractor will accommodate residents for access to their driveways that are impacted by construction.
About the Project
ID-A Pipeline Fire Flow Improvements Phase 1 and 2 (Project) – The project is split up into two phases, Phase 1 and 2, and occurs within Improvement District A (ID-A). The improvements will provide potable water service to existing and future properties within the District’s service area. The new pipelines will improve water quality, reliability, and fire flow within the area.
This work will occur primarily along Old San Pasqual Road, with approx. 35 linear feet of work on Summit Drive. All work occurs in the County of San Diego. This phase includes installation of approximately 2,500 feet of 8-inch ductile iron pipe (DIP), including five fire hydrants and related appurtenances. The new 8-inch DIP will be connected to the existing 8-inch DIP at the intersection of Old San Pasqual Road and San Pasqual Trail.
This work will occur along Rancho Del Sol, Rancho Del Verde, and Summit Drive within the County of San Diego, connecting to Phase 1 at the intersection of Old San Pasqual Road and Summit Drive. This phase includes the installation of approximately 4,200 linear feet of new 16-, 12-, and 8-inch DIP, including 15 new fire hydrants and related appurtenances. The work will also reconnect to eight existing water meter services. Those properties will be connected to a two-inch temporary highline in order to provide water service during the construction of the new main.
Water service may be impacted for up to 8-hours while the water main connections will occur. Notifications will be sent out a minimum of 48 hours ahead of time.
- Construction Schedule
This project will occur in various stages throughout your community starting the week of September 5, 2023. It is a requirement that Phase 1 construction be completed by November 1, 2023. The portion on Phase 2 within Summit Drive will take place in January 2024 with a separate notification letter sent to you ahead of time.
- Construction Notices
The project’s outreach team will deliver a door hanger with the approximate date that construction will begin on your street.
- Street Access and Parking
There will be times when full street closures are necessary during construction hours. Detours will be clearly posted; street parking restrictions may be implemented.
- Trash Pickup and Mail Delivery
Both of these services will be accommodated throughout the construction work.
- Trench Resurfacing
Trench lines will be resurfaced after all of the construction activity has been completed.
